Catching Up

The Fonda family came down and visited us for Caitlyn's birthday. She, of course, spent it at Disneyland, but we were lucky enough to get her for one afternoon. The kids loved seeing her and her brother and it was fun to see them to celebrate all together as a family.

Caitlyn opening her photo album from us (she is an avid photographer).

The year is winding down for Ethan in preschool and they had a Western party last week as a last hurrah. The only western thing I had was the handkerchief that I tied around his neck. It was obvious that everyone else had a hard time too, except the girls who have those adorable boots. I had to tell Ethan that we're not buying a cowboy hat to wear it one time. It's sad that he's no longer going to see these kids all the time. With preschool, they all split up and go their separate ways for Kindergarten.

We took a trip to the beach this weekend to get away. The boys, as always, loved running in the sand and the waves. It was the perfect day, actually, because the fog never lifted so it wasn't REALLY hot, but it wasn't really cold either.

The boys' sand castle complete with found objects from the beach. Austin actually found that plastic piece on the right hand side and made it a door. I thought that was pretty good for a 3 year old to come up with!

Looking for sand crabs with Daddy. They found a few, including the enormous one who play-acted like he was dead, leaving Bryan to throw it back. A couple seconds later, he buried himself back into the sand, where the hunt to get him back uncovered nothing. I really wanted to see him!

I took a trip out to see my other mom (mother-in-law) and we went to a park near their house that has a lake with ducks the boys love to feed. I thought those ducks behind Austin are pretty interesting. They have these bouffant hairdoes. I grabbed these crackers that had been in my pantry forever and opened the package to feed the ducks. Let's just say the boys shared their snacks with the ducks...

At the mall, Ethan wanted to ride the train. Austin didn't want to, but Ethan got a ride around the plaza. He was pretty thrilled.

Ahh....the last day of preschool. Here are some of Ethan's friends that he played with every Tuesday and Thursday. He likes hanging with the girls and they like him too. It was sad to know that he's going to have to make all new friends in Kindergarten, but hopefully we'll be able to make some playdates to keep in touch. Is it just me or have I overwashed that shirt compared to the other kids? His looks really faded.....or else he just wore his more. I don't think I have the gift of doing laundry perfectly or something.....ha ha! Gone are the preschool years, here comes elementary school!!!

AND...to yesterday. The boys are going to the mountain house with their Great Grandparents. They are always so excited to go, and I am so happy that they get to spend that kind of time with them. What a blessing to have healthy, active Great Grandparents that want to spend time with their great grandkids! All I know is....here comes some spoiling for the next few days - for me and them!
